Toronto, ON—European Campus Card Association (ECCA) is a non-profit educational association that brings together a variety of campus ID card and card industry professionals from various disciplines. On June 13th – 15th, was ECCA’s 2010 Annual Conference held at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) in Ireland. More than 100 delegates from 14 countries attended the conference, making it an absolute success. The itinerary was well planned and compact with presentations and workshops led by experts from North America and Europe whom shared and presented today’s hot topics on campus card systems.
Amongst the many ECCA corporate members was ITC Systems’ CEO & President, Campbell Richardson, who was a key presenter at this year’s conference. With a full house in attendance, Richardson provided the latest insights into how universities today can merge campus cards with the features and benefits of prepaid cards. Student photo identification, building access control, and campus-only micropayment applications were areas that were highly focused in Richardson’s thorough presentation. In addition, ITC Systems shared space with One Card Solutions to display some of their latest hardware and software product offerings.
The conference exhibition centre also showcased exciting current and future card technology hardware and software systems. One that stood out especially was the cell phone-based Payex technology that allows patrons to tap their cellular device on any POS terminal when making a purchase. Credits are immediately deducted from their mobile application.
The success of this year’s ECCA conference was apparent to all who attended—it provided a great opportunity for thought leaders in the campus card industry to share their wealth of expertise and to develop powerful networks.
