St Louis, MO – February 5, 2016 — Strong partnerships and a vigorous focus on customer service have enabled ITC Systems to develop an innovative copy/print Payment solution for the New York Public Library.

“Library administration and Konica Minolta asked us to develop a system that would allow patrons to be able to pay easily and simply, with a minimum of staff intervention for their copies and prints produced on NYPL premises.” Mr. Richardson says. “We worked with our partner, Konica Minolta to design, implement and install a solution that was easy to use and maintain, and the feedback has been superb.”

The New York Library is a technologically focused organization with 92 branches located in New York City that required a Payment solution for their self-serve unattended copiers and printers.  The Library has a print/copy Facilities Management contract operated by Konica Minolta who not only support their Multi-Function Devices but also the patron based network printers and Microfilm Reader/Printers.   The scale of the project and the changing requirements made it necessary for the Library to look for a comprehensive solution to pay for copies and prints across the board.  Collaboration between the three parties; ITC Systems, Konica Minolta and NYPL allowed the smooth integration of a solution that carried forward from the existing system to an updated one without missing a beat.

The requirement was to; provide a solution that will accept credit/debit card and NFC payments, continue to provide cash payments at certain locations, minimize the utilization of the Library’s network infrastructure, eliminate any PCI responsibility for the Library, interface with the existing Print Management System, provide a method for the patrons to use up the value on the existing “Copy Cards”, centralize the reporting of cash and credit card payments online and be able to earn off-setting revenue with this system.

“We didn’t hesitate to contact ITC Systems when the library asked us to get a solution to replace their current one without disrupting the Patrons experience” said Chris Bilello, Director, Business Solutions and Market Development, “all of the requirements that KM and the Library needed were met and this included development to provide a new product for this purpose”.

ITC Systems supplied the solution that met all of their requirements with their PayStation line of products.  The PayStation Swift accepts credit/debit cards/Apple Pay and is used at NYPL to control and charge for the use of the KM MFDs, Micro-Film RP and Print Release Stations.  This unit also incorporates the Stored Value Reader that accepts and deducts value from the “Copy Cards” that remain in circulation.  For those areas that need to pay for services using coins and bills they chose the PayStation Grand, which accept coins, bills, credit/debit cards/Apple Pay and are deployed to control and charge for the use of certain MFDs within the Library’s system.

“The library is pleased to be able to join in partnering with two world class companies who came to the table with a solution that met all of our requirements” says Marisol Borrero Saks, Purchasing Manager, “the implementation was totally choreographed and came off without a hitch and we did not have any down time which was a benefit for our Patrons.”“The NYPL had some unique issues that needed to be solved technology and we stepped up with a development that met these requirements,” Mr. Richardson says.  “The New York Public Library has been a valued customer for a long time now and we’re very pleased to continue developing our relationship with staff and administration there.  Konica Minolta and ITC Systems are

About ITC Systems

ITC Systems is an international company that began specializing in Integrated Transaction Control Systems in 1989. Our modest start did not hint at our eventual development into the leading supplier of self-serve based transaction control devices and related software systems for libraries, universities and other closed environments; nor did it suggest that we would eventually be considered the key player in this sector throughout North America. But we have built our success on our commitment to supplying highly reliable products that can be customized to serve each customer’s specific situation. And we have become flexible problem-solvers dedicated to developing creative solutions that deliver to our customers exactly what they need, as economically as possible.
